I’m not a blogger. I have tried over the years and I really don’t like the pressure of writing several times a week for no pay and little feedback. Even more than that, I don’t want the pressure of having to write something noteworthy or important, and I honestly feel that nearly everything I have to say, someone else has already said better online, more often and with more words.

So why am I restarting my FabianSpace blog? Fun.

I got a silly idea in my head to make a science fiction parody about how humans are crazy enough to try anything and that’s why they succeed in the interstellar community. You can read the Tumblr post, which is mostly a Star Trek parody, here. The idea didn’t want to leave my head, so I told my family about it, and they got a kick out of it. Soon, my husband was feeding me ideas, the kids were collaborating on characters, and most of all, we were laughing more than we had in a long time. I love it, and I want to keep it going.

Therefore, I’m going to start blogging Space Traipse: Hold My Beer every other Wednesday. I’m warning you now: this is totally for fun and for the love. Do not expect polished writing. Do not expect deep plots or complex emotions. Do expect to laugh, snort out your drink, roll your eyes, and say, “Yes! I’ve seen them do that!” Expect clichés turned on their heads and unlikely situations that somehow (maybe) work. But mostly, expect me to sit at my computer, giggling maniacally as I again fall in love with the sheer fun of writing humor.

I think every other week is about all I can devote to this along with my other writing projects and full-time job and kids and CWG work, but I figure if I’m already filling 2 spots a month, I could probably go weekly. Besides, it’s a way to introduce others to my many worlds. Therefore, I’ll be adding short stories of science fiction and fantasy from my other universes, posts on how-to write, and other things that strike me. Some will be blasts from the past as I give my old blogs new life, but updated to fit the changing world of writing. Some will be new.

I’m dedicating to this experiment for a year, starting with this blog. If people are coming by and enjoying themselves (and I’m still doing the same), I’ll keep it up. If not, I’ll chalk it up as an interesting experience and move on. If that happens, I’ll let folks know here. In the meantime, if you want to be sure to keep up with the latest adventures of the HMB Impulsive, my dragon Vern, or the Rescue Sisters, your best bet is to sign up for the monthly newsletter.
