Welcome to Fabianspace!
Welcome to Fabianspace
the home site of Karina Fabian, author and Kickstart Marketer.
You'll find my books on the right, with handy links. Want to meet me or get a signed book? Look to the left for Karina Sightings or contact me to get a free bookplate. Contact me as well if you'd like me to join your bookclub. (Far away? I'll call in!)
I'm opening registration for my Marketing Basics class. The class is $30.
We'll examine four basic marketing areas: Online relationships, Off-line relationships, Press, and Platform. In week five, we'll put it together into a marketing plan you can offer to publishers in a proposal or use for yourself on your contracted book. CLASS BEGINS March 8 and April 9. http://karinafabian.com/index.php?name=Content&pid=24
These classes are forum-based and have homework assignments, but promise you a usable product at the end of the course.

Sample issue of 30-Minute Marketer is up
I've placed a sample issue of the 30-Minute Marketer on my website for those that might be interested but aren't sure about committing their marketing dollars. View it here.
This isn't your usual tip-driven publication. This is a weekly newsletter with four marketing tasks, complete with step-by-step instructions. Each should only take about 30 minutes. Whether you do one or all four, you're making steady progress toward getting your name and book out into the world. I also lead you through projects that you can do again and again for each books.

Virtual Book Tour De Net Blog Ending
For several years now, I've had a book tour blog, where people could advertise their books. I posted information and interviews and some reviews. However, much as I've enjoyed it, it wasn't getting a lot of traffic, and I really need to focus my efforts, so I'm closing that blog down.
I may on occasion review a book on my blog Fabianspace, but they'll be ones I happen to be reading. Mostly, I'll be concentrating on my writing adventures. Currently, I'm blogging about writing zombie horror-humor.
Thanks to all who were a part of VBTdeNet.

CWCO Concentrates on Practical Help, Pitches
From the Press Release:
"We've always concentrated on workshops and chats that teach the writer skills or provide information in the areas of crafting, publishing and marketing their works, but this year, we're adding critique workshops and some incredible opportunities to pitch to leading publishers," said organizer Karina Fabian.
This year, publishers hearing pitches include well known Catholic publishers like Pauline, large secular publishers like Thomas Nelson, and smaller presses like White Rose. Thus far, eleven pitch sessions are scheduled, running the gamut from Christian romance to Catholic theology.
In a new program, at least fifty attendees will have the opportunity to have pieces of their work critiqued by successful editors and writers. In addition, there will be forum-based workshops and chat room presentations covering topics from dialogue to freelancing to how Catholic fiction differs from Christian fiction.

From the press release:
As Vatican Explores Idea of Extra-Terrestrial Life, Catholic Sci-Fi is Already There
Simi Valley, CA--Last week, the Vatican called in experts to discuss the possibility of life on other planets, but for years, the editing team of Karina and Robert Fabian have been exploring the future of the Catholic Faith in light of extra-terrestrials and other science fiction themes.
The Fabians edited an anthology of Catholic science fiction, Infinite Space, Infinite God, which won an EPPIE award in 2007 for best science fiction and placed second in the Editors and Preditors Poll for best sci-fi in 2008. Their next anthology, Infinite Space, Infinite God II, is scheduled for April 2010. Both are published by Twilight Times Books...
